Steve Irwin is dead! Crikey!

If you haven't already heard, Steve Irwin, AKA The Crocodile Hunter is dead. He died of a freak accident, from a stingray barb to the chest, up in Queensland whilst snorkelling in the Great Barrier Reef. He was famous for wrestling crocodiles and handling poisonous snakes. Even he thought that if he were to die, he would be killed by a croc or something similar. Who would have thought the deadly blow was from a stingray. Normally, it is rare to die from stingrays. There have only been 2-3 reported deaths in recent Australian history. It is thought that his accident was fatal because of the location of the stingray prick. Most people step on them accidentally, but Steve got his to the chest and most likely caused him to have a heart attack.

The man was an unofficial ambassador of Australia. He was known the world over and will be missed by many fans. At a young age, I remember seeing Steve's shows on the Discovery Channel and I remember thinking, as a child, that Australia was just a wild, exotic place. It will be sad that there will be no more Steve Irwin to show the rest of the world what natural wonders lies in the wilderness.
