It's winter down undah...but where are the holiday decorations?

I guess the change of weather has gotten me "under the weather". I am not sure I can get use to winter in June. For all my life, winter is also synonymous with holiday celebrations and/or general festivities. However, that's not the case in the southern hemisphere. I already knew that the seasons were the opposite before I came here, but I am still unprepared for the experience. It's strange that there are no holiday parties and no decorations to look forward to. The most I got was noticing that most of the shops are in their winter sales. I guess same, same, but different.
